May 2 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Period Drama by Olga Kaleta (with integrated BSL by Sherrie Eugene Hart) is a surreal, episodic dark comedy about mental health, identity & recovery that mixes autobiographical storytelling with bold physicality.

Exploring personal experiences of chronic anxiety in a world where fear is starting to look like common sense, Period Drama offers a deep dive into the question of wellness through a feminist lens, via slasher flicks, bloody knickers & existential dilemmas of insects.

Combining dark humour & physical comedy, this poignant, beautiful & laugh-out-loud performance challenges ideas of who we are & what we are meant to become.

The Shedding by Elise Reine @ Jacksons Lane
May 28 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Contortionist, snake-woman, slug. I bend into your imagination…

Combining trapeze, contortion, performance art and power ballad, this intimate solo explores romanticised depictions of the female victim – à la Twin Peaks’ Laura Palmer – alongside the intoxicating sexualisation of the supple and bending body of the contortionist.

Enter the realm of Elise Reine in this claustrophobic reckoning with the comfort of dehumanisation. Reine uses her circus language to push boundaries and norms, exploring experimental and political topics. This show is part of a series of performances which asks “How far are you willing to Bend”.
