This class is the perfect opportunity to learn the basics of two wonderful paint mediums; how to mix, blend and layer watercolour and how to apply acrylic. Explore how to make dynamic compositions that produce interesting paintings using still Life, photographs and sketches as inspiration.

On warm days in the Spring and Summer, this class is sometimes taught outside, taking advantage of the stunning scenery of Waterlow Park.

Our art tutor, Sharon Finmark, lives in North London and studied at Central St. Martins School of Art.  She has had several books published on painting and drawing.

Yoga @ Jackson’s Lane Wednesdays 7-8pm (1)

Gandini Juggling teams up with breakout stars Chris Patfield and Jose Triguero for Gibbon, a surreal and charming feast of juggling choreography with a wicked sense of humour and a hint of the surreal. A fast-paced mixed repertory of dance theatre with intricate lyrical choreography, athleticism and wry humour, Mapdance brings together renowned and upcoming contemporary choreographers. Mapdance is an established and exciting company of young, dynamic dancers recruited nationally and internationally. Featuring new works specially commissioned from Company Chameleon’s Anthony Missen, Didy Veldman and Jose Agudo, as well as a restaging of Liz Aggiss’s History Repeating…, the performance will appeal equally to dance aficionados and audiences new to the form.

The Highgate Society’s infrastructure committee has planned monthly clean up events for 2019. Please join us. Details below and all are welcome.

Time: meeting 930 am on the dates shown (all Saturdays). Each event will last an hour.

2019 Dates: 2nd February (Highgate Hill), 30th March (Archway Road), 27th April (Highgate Station), 8th June (Highgate Hill), 6th July (Archway Road),

3rd August (Highgate Station), 31st August (Highgate Hill), 28th September (Archway Road), 26th October (Highgate Station), 23rd November (Highgate Hill), 7^th December (Archway Road)

Meeting points: For Highgate Station area meet in Shepherds Hill, outside the library, for Highgate Hill area meet outside 10a South Grove and for Archway Road area meet in Highgate Station car park meet at the end nearest Shepherds Hill.

Purpose: collect litter and reporting any other issues we find to the relevant Council team for follow up action. The June and September dates are noticeboard clean up events.

Equipment: We will supply litter picker sticks, gloves and rubbish bags. Please bring your own litter picker if you have one. Buckets are also useful as an alternative to keeping litter bags open. For the June and September dates please bring small pliers if you have some. Casual clothes. We will collect in rubbish bags at the end.

Safety: We’ll give a short briefing at the start of each session and will stick together as a group. We will have a first aid kit.

But on one particular tour of duty Ryan sees things he can’t talk about – and when he returns home, the trouble really begins. Created from two years of research with former and serving soldiers, families and health professionals, A Brave Face explores post-traumatic stress in the military, an unseen and often unrecognised injury of war told through Vamos’s trademark wordless, full-mask style.

We are excited to announce that Doodle Arts will be continuing its art classes for the Summer Term at Jacksons Lane in Highgate every Wednesday 4-5 pm.

All sessions are specifically design to help children develop their artistic skills and knowledge by using a combination of mediums and techniques such as painting, drawing and printmaking. Drawing inspiration from contemporary artists as well as the great masters and the History of Art we will be exploring fundamental notions in fine art like composition, prospective, tone and texture while at the same time encouraging creative thinking and imagination and most importantly having fun!

Starting date: 24th April – 17th July 2019 ( excluding half term week starting 27th May).
