We are excited to announce that Doodle Arts will be continuing its art classes for the Summer Term at Jacksons Lane in Highgate every Wednesday 4-5 pm.

All sessions are specifically design to help children develop their artistic skills and knowledge by using a combination of mediums and techniques such as painting, drawing and printmaking. Drawing inspiration from contemporary artists as well as the great masters and the History of Art we will be exploring fundamental notions in fine art like composition, prospective, tone and texture while at the same time encouraging creative thinking and imagination and most importantly having fun!

Starting date: 24th April – 17th July 2019 ( excluding half term week starting 27th May).

Participation fee: £144 for 12 sessions / Family offer: £230 for 2 siblings

The Highgate Society’s infrastructure committee has planned monthly clean up events for 2019. Please join us. Details below and all are welcome.

Time: meeting 930 am on the dates shown (all Saturdays). Each event will last an hour.

2019 Dates: 2nd February (Highgate Hill), 30th March (Archway Road), 27th April (Highgate Station), 8th June (Highgate Hill), 6th July (Archway Road),

3rd August (Highgate Station), 31st August (Highgate Hill), 28th September (Archway Road), 26th October (Highgate Station), 23rd November (Highgate Hill), 7^th December (Archway Road)

Meeting points: For Highgate Station area meet in Shepherds Hill, outside the library, for Highgate Hill area meet outside 10a South Grove and for Archway Road area meet in Highgate Station car park meet at the end nearest Shepherds Hill.

Purpose: collect litter and reporting any other issues we find to the relevant Council team for follow up action. The June and September dates are noticeboard clean up events.

Equipment: We will supply litter picker sticks, gloves and rubbish bags. Please bring your own litter picker if you have one. Buckets are also useful as an alternative to keeping litter bags open. For the June and September dates please bring small pliers if you have some. Casual clothes. We will collect in rubbish bags at the end.

Safety: We’ll give a short briefing at the start of each session and will stick together as a group. We will have a first aid kit.

The excitable rascals will have to hustle to get their chores done so they can have some fun…  A generous serving of riotous comedy, chaotic acrobatics, juggling, unicycling, huge flips and many more incredible amazing skills feature in this action-packed attempt to tidy a room. Inspired by slapstick legends Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, the side-splitting duo of Chores will leave audiences on the edge of their seats, giggling until the chores are done.

As soon as everyone’s left the house, the bath toys spring into action! Heading off on exciting adventures in their magical flying bath, they have splashes ready for any emergency – from giving a muddy piglet a shower to putting out a fire for a frightened baboon. This adaptation, featuring catchy songs, quirky bath toys and everyday heroes, is based on the original book by Julia Donaldson and David Roberts.

Join us for our open mic session where we strive to give poets at least two poems to read. Three if you have responded to the Highgate Challenge which this month is simply to use a form/style of poetry that you don’t usually use.

Your £2 admittance as a poet or audience member includes, tea, coffee and biscuits. Wine, cake and chocolate have been known to turn up every now and again. You may get lucky this time. Who knows which way the muse goes?
