Fantastic Voyage: a Bowie Circus Cabaret @ Jacksons Lane
Jul 22 @ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

David Bowie loved the circus, and we love David Bowie.

Jacksons Lane pays its respects with a once-in-a-lifetime night of spectacular sound and vision that we think will blow your minds. Performers from across the globe come together to celebrate Ziggy, the Thin White Duke, and maybe even Jareth the Goblin King as they choose their favourite Bowie look and song for a night of spaceman-inspired circus that’s out of this world.

We have introduced a Pay What You Decide policy for Postcards Festival 2016shows.

You can attend the shows without paying for a ticket beforehand, but tickets can be reserved in advance (max 4 per booking). When the show finishes, you will have the opportunity to make a donation – either by cash on the door or card at the Box Office.

Swish and Style @ Jacksons Lane
Mar 26 @ 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Tired of your t-shirts? Wish you had some different dresses? Save money by bringing along your unwanted (but wearable) clothes to our Swish and Style event and go home with a new-to-you outfit, all for free!

It’s simple. Have a clear out and bring good quality clothes to one of our seven events. For each item you bring, you get a token that you can exchange for another garment (maximum 10 items). Everything is free, everything is clean and everything will be re-worn and re-loved.

How it works

For the first hour (12.30 – 1.30), everyone is invited to drop off their clothes, shoes and accessories that they want to donate. Whilst we busily sort them into style and hang them on hangers, you’ll be free to check out the workshops – learning how to do simple fixes to your clothes and how to upcycle them into something completely different – a jumper becomes a hot water bottle cover, a treasured Babygro becomes a patchwork memory blanket and an old t-shirt becomes a bag. If you have any clothes that need a little TLC, bring them along and our seamstress can fix them for you for free while you wait.

The from 2pm until 3pm, you get to look through all the clothes and choose what you want. If you love it, take it. It’s first come, first served – but no elbows please!

What can you bring?

Please bring along:

  • Clean and wearable clothes, shoes and accessories
  • No damage, holes and stains
  • You can bring women’s, men’s, children’s and baby clothes
  • No underwear please, unless in sealed, unworn condition

Anything that we deem unacceptable will be given back to you and you will not be given a token. We have the right to turn away any item.

Please note only adults will be allowed at events. Parents with children under the age of 12 can bring them but they must remain under the parents’ supervision at all times.

Any clothes that are left over at the end of the event will be donated to the Salvation Army.

karen lane presents the music of nancy wilson & cannonball adderley

thursday 4 may

With Martin Hathaway | alto, Steve Fishwick | trumpet

Graham Harvey |piano, Simon Woolf | bass,  Matt Fishwick | drums

Arriving from Australia in 2000 after performing at many of the big Asian Festivals, Karen has released five albums to critical acclaim.  She’s worked with some of our finest musicians including Tom Cawley, Andy Hamill and Robin Aspland and has found herself performing in exotic places she’d never imagined she’d see including Sicily, Portafino, Nice, Monte Carlo, Berlin, Cape Town and Bucharest.

Her visit to Lauderdale House will be a unique date on the London scene when she recreates the music of Nancy Wilson. Had she not coincided with the advent of rock and soul, Nancy Wilson would have been considered one of the greatest female jazz singers of them all.  Luckily she did record a number of albums with one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, Cannonball Adderley and Karen thinks it’s high time Nancy’s music was reassessed.  This is going to be a concert you should not miss!

“.. a fine and distinctive singer” Dave Gelly, The Observer

“.. as accomplished.. as I have heard this year” Peter Quinn, Jazzwise
