Highgate Modern Homes

Professor David Porter and Elspeth Clements
Highgate is the location of perhaps the largest and finest concentration of modern homes anywhere in Britain, but because of the historic context and the pressure on land many are hidden away. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Highgate Society, Elspeth Clements and David Porter curated an exhibition in the School Museum over the October half-term holiday to showcase Highgate’s pioneering spirit. David Porter is Emeritus Professor of Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art, and Elspeth Clements is a practising architect and Chairman of the Highgate Society Planning Committee.

The 10th Annual Kyffin Williams Lecture: Conservation Challenges

Jenny Williamson, Easel Painting Conservator

Jenny Williamson has come to know Kyffin Williams’s pictures well through her work at galleries across Wales.  In this talk to mark Kyffin’s centenary year she will answer questions such as ‘what does an art conservator do?’ ‘what does she aim to achieve?’, ‘what techniques does she use?’ and ‘what pitfalls does she need to avoid?’

Talks take place on Mondays at 7pm in the AV Room in the Mills Centre. Refreshments, including wine, are available from 6.30 pm and afterwards.

Nov 25 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Four different bodies collide. A show about how things need to fall apart before they can fall into place.

Their lives are different, but one thing unites them: there’re frustrated with their bodies changing, ageing, breaking, no longer obeying. They climb, hang, balance, slide, collapse, hold and hug. They examine marks life has left on their bodies. Film and audio fragments mirror these marks in the wounds inflicted on our planet. These characters are fighting the grind of what’s expected. And you might feel inspired to do the same.

Delicate is BSL interpreted, audio described and captioned. Delicate is presented by Extraordinary Bodies and co-produced with Figurteatret i Nordland and Theatre Royal Plymouth.
