Combining high-level circus skills with pathos, humour and beauty, Jess Love creates a vision that is at once delicately touching, visually enchanting and heart-warmingly playful. Dark clowning, dirty acrobatics and surreal sideshow feats go hand-in-hand with slapstick, roller-skating, hula hoops, skipping and hopscotch acrobatics – phew! With crafted storytelling and awe inspiring images on a bed of roses and broken glass, it’s so sweet you’ll want to squeal!

Curated by Lucy Loves Circus
Doffing our cap to the traditions of vaudeville and the origins of circus and cabaret, acclaimed circus blogger Lu Cyrcus curates this very special night, led by Cirque du Soleil’s lead clown Sean Kempton. New and old combine in this evening of contemporary varieté, featuring everything from pole dancing to aerial rope and trapeze, where burlesque meets juggling kettle bells, with a dash of musical saw thrown in for good measure.
A night to tease, whisper and gasp – Ssshhh!

Myths remixed: the classic story of Persephone is retold with live music, aerial acrobatics, fire, dance and mime. A high impact show full of hope and sorrow, it’s Greek mythology but not as you know it as this tale of love, choice and empowerment gets a contemporary circus twist. Chivaree Circus will take you on a journey and leave you ready to embrace an eternity in Hades.

If Kraftwerk made circus it would look something like this: comedy meets electro-robotic-vogueing in an epic feat of handstand endurance!
Natalie Reckert is a German hand balancer who loves to dance to electronic beats and read Wikipedia articles about load experiments. In her highly skilled one-woman experiment, she tests the limits of the body and the stability of quite a lot of eggs. Brilliantly absurd and totally unique.

David Bowie loved the circus, and we love David Bowie.
Jacksons Lane pays its respects with a once-in-a-lifetime night of spectacular sound and vision that we think will blow your minds. Performers from across the globe come together to celebrate Ziggy, the Thin White Duke, and maybe even Jareth the Goblin King as they choose their favourite Bowie look and song for a night of spaceman-inspired circus that’s out of this world.

Closing the festival in screwball style, join Ireland’s most emotional dancers as they share their bullet proof secret to life and happiness! A motivational, semi-nude, breathtakingly funny show, Sean and Seamus dance and bicker their way through an hour of physical and meta-physical comedy.

wilde roses
Wilde Roses is an early music collaboration between singers, multi-instrumentalists, composers, dancers and performers Anna Tam and Emily Alice Ovenden who met whilst they were performing with the Mediaeval Baebes.
Musically and visually inspired by the medieval and renaissance world, we draw our repertoire from illuminated manuscripts, courtly song books, Elizabethan broadside ballads and the folk tradition. Fascinated by the stories in these songs – medieval religious imagery so beautifully infused with nature; renaissance tales of piracy, jilted lovers and general folly alongside some of the most sincere and tender love songs that reach to the heart of life and human relationships.
Anna Tam (musical director, singer, nyckelharpa, viola da gamba, hurdy gurdy player, percussion) enjoys and eclectic career both in the folk and classical genres. She trained as a classical singer and instrumentalist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During her early studies, she performed at the Wigmore Hall and on BBC Radio 3 and has been touring internationally since she was 15.
Emily Alice Ovenden (singer, recorders, percussion) received a scholarship from Andrew Lloyd Webber to study in London. With the Mediaeval Baebes she has made several albums, and recorded themes for BBC TV shows Victoria and Elizabeth. Emily made 3 acclaimed albums with her band PYTHIA and has recorded vocals for multi platinum selling band Dragonforce.
