THAT’S JEWISH ENTERTAINMENT presents a cornucopia of Jewish talent, with song, dance and comedy spanning decades of Jewish life. From the shtetls of Eastern Europe to Broadway. From Yiddish folk songs to Hollywood blockbusters.

It’s been a long bitter-sweet journey, and on the way contributors to this entertainment heritage are artists such as:

THE GERSHWIN BROTHERS / AL JOLSON / SOPHIE TUCKER / EDDIE CANTOR / IRVING BERLIN
THE MARX BROTHERS / FANNY BRICE / WOODY ALLEN / MEL BROOKS / BARBRA STREISAND
JACKIE MASON / JERRY HERMAN / SID CAESER / JOAN RIVERS / BETTE MIDLER
…and many, many more!

From Louis B Mayer to Steven Spielberg. From The Jazz Singer to Yentl. From fiddlers in the shtetl to Fiddler on the Roof.

Cul de Sac @ Jacksons Lane
Feb 23 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

An absurd and comic duet of circus, Cul de Sac explores the sometimes gentle, sometimes brutal nature of human relationships. Featuring world-class juggling, dance and acrobatics, performers Gemma Palomar and José Triguero take us through a cycle of love, irritation, pain, euphoria, caresses and carelessness as they journey beyond the stereotypical male-female relationship. Combining astonishing physicality with evocative imagery and humour, Cul de Sac is at once entertaining, troubling and touching, light and dark.

From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads @ Jacksons Lane
Feb 27 @ 8:00 pm – 9:15 pm

This acclaimed Edinburgh sell-out production from Jacksons Lane’s Artistic Director Adrian Berry tells the story of a young David Bowie obsessive.

Martin is a boy with problems – an illness no-one understands and a head full of sound and vision. So when an unexpected gift arrives on his birthday, Martin embarks on a thrilling journey in the footsteps of his obsession, leading him to discover some long-hidden truths about himself. What follows will change his life forever…

Powerful and touching, music and magic realism collide in this darkly funny and moving solo production featuring Alex Walton and the voice of writer & comedian Rob Newman. With a blistering Bowie soundtrack, the life of the pop fan is dissected in this tale of unnatural teenage wildlife.

“Moving and touching, it blew me away. I cried my eyes out. You forget you’re in a theatre, and you can’t ask for much more than that” BBC London Live

The Machine Stops @ Jacksons Lane
Mar 7 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

In a dystopian world where humans have retreated far underground, Kuno alone questions their now total dependency on technology to live and communicate with each other, but in his struggle to break out can he reach the Earth’s surface before the Machine stops?

A chilling prediction and exploration of our increasingly complex relationship with technology based on a short story by EM Forster. Featuring a brand new soundtrack composed by John Foxx, pioneer of electronic music and founder of Ultravox, and analogue synth specialist, Benge.

Why have Jews dominated the entertainment industry? How is it that so many writers, composers, performers, directors and producers are Jewish?

A CENTURY OF JEWISH ENTERTAINMENT – IN ONE SHOW!
