Alan Barnes and Dave Newton have been playing and recording together for over 40 years! With Andrew Cleyndert and Matt Fishwick completing the line-up, we can’t wait to welcome this world-class quartet.
Alan Barnes is a prolific international performer, composer, arranger, bandleader and touring soloist. He is best known for his work on clarinet, alto and baritone sax, where he combines a formidable virtuosity with a musical expression and collaborative spirit that have few peers. Alan’s unique musicianship, indefatigable touring, and warm rapport with audiences have made him uniquely popular in British jazz. He has received over 25 British Jazz Awards, most recently in 2014 for clarinet, and has twice been made BBC Jazz Musician of the Year.
David Newton was voted best Jazz Pianist in the British Jazz awards for the thirteenth time in 2014 and was made a Fellow of Leeds College of Music in 2003. His reputation as an accompanist is unparalleled, and he has featured on numerous recordings since the mid-80s.

Laura Jurd and Corrie Dick (of the Mercury Prize-nominated band Dinosaur) join Liam Noble and Ruth Goller for a stunning evening of Jazz in the House!
Composer-performer Laura Jurd’s distinct voice as an improvising trumpet player is at the heart of everything she creates. Her music celebrates and innovates the rich traditions of jazz and folk music, whilst often reflecting her love of The Beatles and Stravinsky to name two notable influences. Her compositions dig into something primal, earthy and human, whilst taking twists and turns that both invite surprise and evoke the inevitable.

Craftsmanship meets circus in a spellbinding exploration of the human desire to create. On a custom-built stage, obsessed characters discover and transform their space and themselves as they take the audience into a unique DIY experience. Silly, surreal and completely captivating.
In this capricious game between two acrobats, nothing is fixed. Feel welcome to take a seat on one of the rolling stools and be an actor in this moving composition. The performance invites to make contact, to touch, to be part of and to influence. Or none of this, you can stay invisible in the group.

The stage is a mess. Laundry spans floor to ceiling. Out of the chaos rises the aerial silk. In this highly physical solo show about motherhood, circus, theatre and spoken word combine to unravel the mysteries of the mother trees which hold the forest together.

Leyla Daybelge and Magnus Englund are trustees of the Isokon Gallery, the museum in the building,. Their richly illustrated talk is not just about design and architecture but also war, sex, death, espionage and famous dinner parties.
The Highgate Watercolour Group look forward to welcoming their visitors, both local and from further afield, and take great pleasure in presenting their work in this beautiful historic house.
This year they will have the cream of their output on display, beautifully framed and reasonably priced. Nearly all members are represented, so there is great variety and hopefully something for everyone.
In August, the Highgate Watercolour Group painting activities moved out of 10A South Grove, where they usually work, enabling them to exploit the city more widely. Look out for paintings of Omved Gardens in Highgate, views of Hampstead and the Heath, as well as other north London hotspots. And of course one of their favourite venues is Waterlow Park and Lauderdale House itself.
Everyone is welcome to the private view on Wednesday 11th October from 7.30 pm to 9.30pm – come meet the artists and see the work first!
