Jacksons Lane summons you to a ghoulish feast of blood-curdling burlesque, macabre music, spectral circus and eerie illusion with some horrifically talented artists in this frighteningly fantastic night.

Overseen by the dark lord of comedy magic Christian Lee, expect vampires on ropes, tantalising terrors of tease, ghouls on your lap and gothic glamour all around, including the queen of erotic neo-burlesque, the sensational MisSa Blue.

The ticket includes a chiller cocktail on arrival, with a late bar and special medicinal concoctions to get your fangs into. Book early!

We encourage attendees to dress to distress.

LUX is pleased to invite local residents, community groups and businesses to a free breakfast event on Wednesday 18 October at its building in Waterlow Park. Join us for coffee, tea and pastries, meet our team and other locals as well as visit our current exhibition. All welcome, drop in any time between 9 – 10.30am.
 
The current exhibition Kate Davis: Charity invites the viewer to contemplate fundamental emotions and everyday activities that are often overlooked. Taking artistic representations of breastfeeding as its focus, the film Charity explores how the essential – but largely invisible and unpaid – processes we employ to care for others could be re-imagined. Charity is shown alongside related artworks, bookworks, research materials and a selection of films and videos from the LUX and Cinenova collections.

LUX is pleased to invite local residents, community groups and businesses to a free breakfast event at its building in Waterlow Park. Join us for coffee, tea and pastries, meet our team and other locals as well as visit our current exhibition. All welcome, drop in any time between 9 – 10.30am.

The current exhibition, BL CK B X: Alia Syed, presents Syed’s Wallpaper, a double screen film that was originally commissioned by the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in 2008. Wallpaper is a performative documentary in which four generations of women in the artist’s family attempt to recreate a wallpaper design that was painted by Syed’s grandmother when the artist was a child. It features Syed, her daughter, mother, and grandmother, as well as her sister, artist-filmmaker Tanya Syed. Documenting the process in video and 16mm film, the five women take turns in the film’s technical roles (performer, director, camera operator), thus de-stabilizing the relationship between filmmaker and filmed subject, and the traditional generational hierarchy. The result is a self-reflexive and delicately layered film which deals with family, memory and subjectivity. Wallpaper is shown alongside a library display of Syed’s Points of Departure (2014) and A Story Told (2004).

The world’s largest philosophy and music festival is coming to London in the summer of 2018. Feed your minds, bodies and souls at HowTheLightGetsIn. For one weekend only, you’ll find the world’s leading thinkers debating today’s biggest ideas in the spectacular grounds of Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath.The festival is packed with stimulating debates covering topics from politics, art, philosophy and science. The impressive line up includes psychologist Steven Pinker, author and playwright Deborah Levy, post-colonial theorist Homi Bhabha, activist and filmmaker Tariq Ali, philosopher Rebecca Goldstein, mathematician and Hawking collaborator Roger Penrose, and many others.

Alongside a range of debates, talks and workshops in London, there will be fantastic acoustic music acts making for a wonderful atmosphere at a beautiful location.
