Beginners Vocal Workshop @ Lauderdale House
Apr 12 @ 10:30 am – 2:30 pm

Learn how to develop your singing voice from total scratch

You don’t need to have previous singing experience or be able to read music as this workshop will teach you the singing essentials of breathing techniques and vocal skills in four hours for £25.50.

Kieran and Idit will show you how to transform your speaking voice into a singing voice through practical techniques. Not only will these techniques help improve your singing but also your voice for presentations and public speaking. And that’s not all, for completing the Level 1 workshop you will receive a certificate.

It will be fun and entertaining and to help you we will email the song sheets upon booking so you become familiar with the chosen songs.

Feedback from Elaine who attended our Beginners Workshop in January: I loved the workshop.  I thought it was very well organised.  As a complete beginner, the focus on interactive learning (i.e. theory, practice and feedback) was very helpful.  I came away with a lot more confidence but, rather than just a feeling of increased confidence, I have learnt techniques that could develop my singing voice.”

Ssshhh! Circus Cabaret curated by Lucy Loves Circus @ Jacksons Lane
Jul 16 @ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Curated by Lucy Loves Circus

Doffing our cap to the traditions of vaudeville and the origins of circus and cabaret, acclaimed circus blogger Lu Cyrcus curates this very special night, led by Cirque du Soleil’s lead clown Sean Kempton. New and old combine in this evening of contemporary varieté, featuring everything from pole dancing to aerial rope and trapeze, where burlesque meets juggling kettle bells, with a dash of musical saw thrown in for good measure.

A night to tease, whisper and gasp – Ssshhh!

We have introduced a Pay What You Decide policy for Postcards Festival 2016shows.

You can attend the shows without paying for a ticket beforehand, but tickets can be reserved in advance (max 4 per booking). When the show finishes, you will have the opportunity to make a donation – either by cash on the door or card at the Box Office.

From Help Refugees’ mission statement:

“Help Refugees is not simply another aid organisation. We work where governmental and other non-governmental bodies can (or will) not, filling the gaps and providing emergency aid and vital services to those affected by the global refugee crisis. We act fast to get aid and services directly and immediately to the people who need it most by identifying the most effective grassroots groups, local people, individual volunteers and refugees themselves active in the crisis and providing them with funding and support, enabling them to focus their time and energy on the vital work they do every day. Help Refugees are also operational where needed across Europe providing our experienced teams to maintain quality services and uphold dignity for refugees.”

“For many years I have admired Idit as both a singer and a teacher of singing: she brings to all her musicmaking a lively professionalism and integrity, coupled with the gift of communication which inspires others to aspire to the same high standards. I have witnessed her in action as a teacher and have seen how quickly she can achieve positive results with committed students by pinpointing the specific areas of development relevant to each individual singer – the singers themselves are frequently surprised at the speed of their progress under Idit’s tuition. I enthusiastically recommend Idit as an exceptional teacher who commands international respect.”
