The hard hitting, dynamic jazz group Nigel Price Organ Trio returns to Lauderdale House

Nigel Price Organ Trio was nominated for the 2021 Parliamentary Jazz Award for ‘Best ensemble’ (they won in 2010) and are winners of the 2016 British Jazz Award for ‘Best Small Group’. Expect dynamic solos and terrific ensemble playing as the group revisit highlights from their vast back catalogue.

Nigel is known for his clear, no nonsense, driving approach to jazz guitar and has steadily become one of the UK’s foremost exponents of the instrument. Ross Stanley is not only one of the greatest ever UK musicians, he also plays a real B3 Hammond Organ complete with 2 Leslie speakers. Joel Barford is the man of the moment and has been causing a stir across the UK and further afield with his incredible drumming ability. He has also been featured in the ‘Taking Off’ section in Jazzwise magazine.

Award winning trumpet player and vocalist Pete Horsfall joins us for a very special evening performance

Pete’s unique engagement and eclectic approach to the jazz tradition has seen him featured regularly as a guest on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM. As a trumpet soloist he has performed at a huge array of prestigious venues and festivals throughout the world including London’s Royal Albert Hall, New York’s Lincoln Center, Paris’ Duc Des Lombards, The North Sea Jazz Festival and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club amongst many others.

Pete has performed and recorded with acts including Kansas Smitty’s, Guy Barker, Jamie Cullum, Clare Teal,  Kurt Elling, Jim Mullen, De La Soul, DJ Premier and Friendly Fires. As a passionate jazz educator, Pete has led workshops and masterclasses at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Join rising British stars Emily Masser and Alex Clarke for an evening of fiery, straight-ahead music as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.

A student at the Guildhall School of Music, Emily Masser’s range, variation and seemingly effortless delivery reflect a confidence and ability which belie her years. Her strengths as an arranger and vocalist have received multiple plaudits, highlighting her scat singing in particular.

As a finalist at the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2020, winner of the Rising Star category in the 2019 British Jazz Awards and Jazz Newcomer of the Year nominee in the 2021 & 2022 and 2024 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, Alex Clarke is one of the most in-demand and versatile young reeds players to have emerged on the British jazz scene. Lauded for her extensive repertoire list and intelligent ear for harmony, her sound is steeped in the tradition of bebop and her deep respect for the heritage of the music can be heard in a hard-swinging, melodic approach reminiscent of Scott Hamilton and Lester Young, with strong bop influences of Phil Woods and Cannonball Adderley.

Performing alongside them are some most respected names in British jazz: pianist Graham Harvey, drummer Steve Brown and Dave Green on bass. This generational mix of performers is not to be missed.
