A concert of rarely played works for oboe/cor anglais, bassoon and piano from early twentieth century France and England. Performed on instruments of the time; an oboe from 1902 and the now rarely heard French System bassoon. Experience the now forgotten deftness and lightness of sound inherent in these instruments in a varied programme of moods and expressions. With works by Michael Head, Charles Koechlin, Robert Planel, Franz Schubert, Jules Pillevestre, Frank Bridge and Francis Poulenc.
‘enchanting, fresh and delightful…faultless ensemble….the best performance of any kind I have heard in years’
