The Government Inspector @ Upstairs at the Gatehouse
Jul 11 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

presented by irrational theatre

written by Nikolai Gogol

As the lights flicker….it’s 1979 in Worsborough Dale.

A letter arrives…

…announcing the arrival of a government inspector, incognito, and ready to root out the town’s rampant corruption, which sends the crooked council chairman and his bureaucrats into a panicked frenzy.

A web of lies and bribery follows in this comic satire of a small town’s utter madness, shadiness and self delusion.

Nobody is free from the taint of ravenous self-interest, bureaucracy, buffoonery and more. Their actions are held up to scorn and ridicule in this hilarious yet moral tale.

Sundial Sundays: The Meritus Collective @ Lauderdale House
Jul 29 @ 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Join us in pretty Waterlow Park for some FREE live music on the Tea Lawn.

This Sunday we are joined by The Meritus Collective, a young and dynamic group of musicians who share a passion for chamber music. They are one of Lauderdale House’s resident ensembles, and are a highly experienced group of musicians. Members have trained at most of the major conservatoires in Britain and between them have performed all around the world and for orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Relax on the grass with a hotdog and a cold drink while you enjoy family-friendly live music as part of our ongoing Sundial Sundays season.

For this performance the musicians will be John Cuthbert: Piano | Jade Brightwell on Violin | James Greenfield: Cello.

The Meritus Collective will perform between 2.30 and 4.30pm on 29 July. All sessions are free to attend and open to everyone.

See the full programme of Sundial Sunday performances here.

Sundial Sundays have been generously sponsored by the Co-op Community Fund.
