Insieme are delighted to continue as Chamber Opera Ensemble in Residence at Lauderdale House this year. New for 2022, they are presenting a series of Free Thursday Lunchtime Concerts in Lauderdale house’s beautiful Long Gallery overlooking Waterlow Park.
Curated by Insieme members, these will explore repertoire for smaller combinations of voice and instruments in a relaxed, 40-minute concert.
The monumentally exciting Nigel Price Organ Trio is coming to liven up Lauderdale House with their fresh and eclectic sound with the help of saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos.
Nominated for the 2021 Parliamentary Jazz Award for ‘Best ensemble’ (they won in 2010) and winners of the 2016 British Jazz Award for ‘Best Small Group’, the band will be playing selections from their vast back catalogue as well as from the recently released and critically acclaimed ‘Wes Re-Imagined’ (2021 Ubuntu), an album that celebrates the compositions of jazz guitar icon Wes Montgomery, but reworked into new, exciting and unexpected feels. They will be joined by the jazz saxophone virtuoso Vasilis Xenopoulos.
Expect a night of exciting interplay, outrageous solos and a few laughs too!

Still Waters was born out a long association and friendship going back 40 years between Henry Lowther and Britain’s premiere bassist Dave Green – the band is now one of the most accomplished and creative bands in the country.
Although a classic quintet of two front line and rhythm, Still Waters plays radical and original music, ranging from gentle, quietly pastoral and melodic music, reflecting the band’s name, through to dynamic, free improvisation. The main thing to say about it is that it is indeed a band – not just a collection of individual musicians; in other words the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts. The level of creativity, adventure and interplay on gigs never ceases to astonish audiences; no two gigs are ever the same.
Featuring Henry Lowther (trumpet), Dave Green (bass), Paul Clarvis (drums) and Pete Hurt (saxophone), Still Waters is truly an unmissable experience.
“Lowther and Hurt’s compositions are subtly effective and the players took them as inspiration for some small miracles” A review by Jon Turney for the Bristol Jazz Log.
