Would you like a bit of friendly help with your phone, laptop or tablet? Just head to the Highgate School Library for an afternoon of free, informal one-to-one computer familiarisation sessions over a nice cup of coffee. We do tea as well. And cake!
If you don’t yet possess any electronic gadgets, don’t worry, we do and we’d love you to come and play with them.
“This is so wonderful! It’s easy – when you know how! Thank you” says 75 year old Highgate Coffee & Computers friend, who has just worked out how to move all his pictures from his phone to his tablet.
If you want more info, give Stuart a call on 020 8347 2411 (quoting Highgate Coffee & Computers). You can also email us on highgatecoffeeandcomputers@gmail.com to tell us what you want to know more about.
Please note the volunteers at these sessions are pupils from the school, ranging in age from 11 to 18 years old. The School has a duty of care to these young people and would be very grateful if you could be mindful of maintaining appropriate interaction with them. Please consider issues such as your language, your expectations regarding the type of matter you raise with the pupils, and the sort of information that the pupils may see on your documents or particular webpages.
If you have any queries then please don’t hesitate to raise them with the members of staff at the session.
If you plan to come, it would be helpful to know, though it is not obligatory.
Warm regards

Highgate Choral Society’s annual family carols concert has become an unmissable event, with plenty of variety and audience participation! Early booking is advised as this is always a sell-out.
Bellway hosts Highgate Art Exhibition to showcase local talent – local residents invited to enjoy some culture, carols and canapes
On Thursday 14th December, from 6.30pm until 9.00pm, local developer, Bellway Homes is hosting an exhibition of captivating, vibrant paintings by local artist, Michèle Janes – one of the UK’s leading original abstract artists. This free exhibition will take place at Bellway Homes’ prestigious new development on Bishops Road, Highgate, where local residents are invited to attend a festive evening of culture, canapés and carol singing.
The exhibition will be opened by Councillor Stephen Mann, Mayor of Haringey, and a selection of paintings will be available to purchase at the event – 10% of the proceeds will be donated to The Mayors’ Special Fund Appeal ‘Making a Difference for Mental Health’.
The exhibition will deliver an ‘abstract Christmas’ to leafy Highgate – a selection of paintings with vibrant colour as the dominant theme – showcasing Michèle’s love of London life and “the feline world big and small”. It will
feature a range of both paper framed and canvas art work. ‘Abstract freelance’ pieces will include colour integrations with a high gloss finish (on paper framed), combining minimalist and full on colour effects. This selection of
images are destined to brighten up the most mundane of environments, by adding a true WOW factor.
‘Abstract defined’ pieces will include colour integrations with a more delicate feel – allowing greater scope for interpretation – featured on canvass. These abstract images represent the artist’s emotion at any given time (Michèle’s work is often acclaimed for her honesty of expression).

Join local artist, Jo Pearl, ceramic sculptor and animation filmmaker, for a playful workshop that breathes clay into life while exploring OmVed Gardens’ flora and micro fauna. Inspired by her body of work ‘Unearthed’ on view at the Alchemy exhibition, ceramic artist and animation filmmaker Jo Pearl will host a playful workshop inviting participants to sculpt the fascinating microbes and mini critters that live beneath healthy soil and bring them to life using simple stop motion. This workshop is suitable for any age from 8 to 108. Participants must have a smart phone with the iMotion app (free to download) and be able to use it unsupervised. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. “Breathing life into clay and clay into life – has become my definition of animation. I have become fascinated with the soil that is at the root of the ceramic discipline, enchanted by the truly overwhelming richness of life beneath our feet. I celebrate that abundance here with ‘Unearthed’, a project that zooms us down and focuses in on the choreography of ever-more tiny beings that inhabit the soil, a largely unknown place that holds one of the keys to life on earth.” – Jo Pearl |
