Highgate Horticultural Society’s Autumn Flower Show, come along and look at the marvellous exhibits and then pause for a cup of tea and a slice of cake! The opening concert in our 2016-2017 season has a sombre feel, commemorating the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. Starting with The Banks of Green Willow by George Butterworth, who was killed in action on 5th August 1916, aged 31, this work is complemented by Ronald Corp’s The Somme – A Lament. The mood lifts with the choral arrangement of Serenade to Music by Butterworth’s contemporary, Vaughan Williams and the programme closes with Brahms’s glorious German Requiem.

You can revive yourself with afternoon tea with our delicious cakes, visit our plant, produce and raffle stalls and bid for some of the donated exhibits at our famous auction! Handmade in Highgate is back on 8 – 10 April, for the Spring Fair. The Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution will feature up to 30 of the UK’s finest designers/makers and artists. As an added bonus this year the historic library will be open for a book sale on Saturday 9 April and Sunday 10 April.
