Jazz Concert: Liane Carroll with Roger Carey @ Lauderdale House
May 8 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Singer, pianist and composer, Liane Carroll is a major presence on the British music scene. She has worked with countless jazz musicians and with the likes of Sir Paul McCartney and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.  Although she played to thousands at the Rochester Festival in up State New York, as well as big concerts in Copehagen last year, (proof that the wider world is at last catching up with her prodigious talent), we are fortunate that she still loves to play in small venues like Lauderdale House. Her ability to make you laugh, or bring tears to your eyes is one of the major pleasures in popular music.

Jazz Concert: The Music of Jaco Pastorius Gwilym Simcock with Laurence Cottle (el.bs.) & James Maddren (dms.) @ Lauderdale House
May 15 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Gwilym is regarded as the UK’s number one jazz
pianist and composer, with strong classical overtones. He has many world tours and
concerts with The Impossible Gentlemen to his credit. His diverse range is
exemplified by his work with full scale orchestras, including one BBC Prom
devoted entirely to his music – which makes this concert, something of a major
surprise. Only Laurence Cottle a bass virtuoso in his own right could take on the
role of Weather Report’s  revolutionary titan in this intimate trio
setting. And James Maddren, possibly the leading drummer to have appeared in
the last few years, completes a remarkable group presenting the music of a
major and unique talent, Jaco Pastorius
