Children’s book fair, with special guest Alex T. Smith, children’s writer and illustrator, author of Claude books and official World Book Day illustrator, on stage at 11.00 and signing books afterwards.
There will be secondhand books for sale, children’s activities, delicious home-made cakes and biscuits to buy, and Muswell Hill Children’s Bookshop will be here to sell copies of Alex’s books.

The classes will run from 11am-5pm and prices include use of equipment and materials (vitreous glass tiles, A5, A4 and 30 x 30 cm boards, or bring something of your own to work on).

Andrew Derbyshire’s appearances have included international touring, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, BBC TV’s Children in Need plus he has his very own album! He first rose to the public eye as part of the inaugural The Pop Idol on ITV, where at the age of just 19 he was selected by musical director Mike Dixon to join the original cast of We Will Rock You, in which he understudied the leading role of Galileo- a part he would go on to play at over 100 performances.  Andrew most recently appeared in Thriller on the UK tour and in the West End.

A recent graduate from Mountview Theatre School Lydia Marcazzo appeared as Teresa in Days of Hope at Ye Olde Rose and Crown.

Mindfulness Meditation Programme (8-weeks) @ Jackson's Lane

This eight-week program will help you to:

improve your focus and concentration levels

lower bodily stress and increase relaxation

explore how your mind works

explore how your mind habitually creates unhealthy thought processes and worry

Rucksack Music @ Jacksons Lane

‘Rucksack Music’ at Jacksons Lane, Highgate. Drop-in music classes for babies and toddlers (0-4 years) and their grown-ups/parents/carers. Wednesdays 10.15-11.15am £4.50 (3.50 for siblings.) No need to book, just come along and join in the fun. Lots of singing, stomping, clapping, wriggling and just having a good time. The class will be led by singer/guitarist and Jazz musician Faye Patton.

About Rucksack Music: We have been running affordable drop in music classes for babies and toddlers (0-4) and their grown ups for over 15 years. We run classes in North and South London. The company has been filmed by the BBC and ‘London Today’ and we use a unique, tried and tested ‘rucksack’ formula. Relaxed, guided music sessions with nursery rhymes, rounds, tongue twisters and live guitar accompaniment, with small percussion instruments to experience and enjoy. Our sessions include a break for biscuits and a chance to chat and connect. Our experienced and diverse tutor line-up includes professionals from the world of theatre, Kodaly, jazz and sound healing. We are also a popular choice for children’s events and private parties.

Highgate Choral Society sings J S Bach / C P E Bach Magnificat @ All Hallows' Church

8th March 2014 marks the tercentenary of the birth of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, second surviving son of Johann Sebastian Bach and his first wife, Maria Barbara. To celebrate this event Highgate Choral Society will be performing a Magnificat by both father and son, the first dating from 1733 and the second from 1749.
Our programme also commemorates the tercentenary of Christoph Willibald Gluck. The New London Orchestra will begin the concert with the overture to his opera, Iphigenie en Aulide, and later play the Dance of the Blessed Spirits from Act 2 of Gluck’s most famous work, Orfeo ed Euridice.
